General Motors extravagant road shows were held eight times from 1949 to 1961. The term Motorama was applied in 1953 and became a high dollar production. In the 1950s these shows were the responsibility of Spencer Hopkins, who headed General Motors sales division.
1954 General Motors Motorama Many innovations appearing in Motorama's came on the market within a year or two of their preview. The Chevrolet Corvette was a concept car when the 1953 Motorama was held in January of 1953. It was so popular at the show that production began in July 1953.
